Record Numbers in the FRDBI for the 20th Century

Cumulative numbers of records

This chart shows the cumulative number of records in the database recorded in each year. The database itself came into existence in the mid 80's. The curve shows an exponential increase with no sign of tailing off. The dramatic increase in records in recent years is due two main factors:

1) Industrious individuals using personal electronic database (e.g. Nick Legon).
2) The activities of the Local Recording Groups who submit records electronically.

Yearly incremental numbers of records

This chart is based on the same data but shows just the number of records added each year. Again this shows that recording activity has increased since the formation of the database with a peak of over 35,000 records added in 1996.
